I entered the ballot 47 times over 2 years before I got the email: "You've been selected."
The Morning Of
5:30 AM tee time. Scottish summer means sunrise at 4 AM, so I watched the light creep across the course while waiting on the first tee.
The starter said: "The Old Course. Enjoy it, laddie."
I nearly cried.
The Round
It's not the hardest course I've played. It's not the prettiest. But standing on the 18th fairway, with the R&A clubhouse ahead and 600 years of history under my feet... nothing else compares.
The Cost
Green fee: £295 Caddie: £60 + tip Once-in-a-lifetime experience: Priceless (sorry, had to)
